geography
The nature reserve is located in the natural area of the Baar . It extends in the lower Brigachtal over 10.8 hectares in north-south direction on the districts Klengen of the municipality Brigachtal and Grüningen of the city of Donaueschingen. It begins in the north approximately opposite the Klengen hamlet of Beckhofen with a half-hectare lake and ends in the south just before the outskirts of Grüningen. In the west, the nature reserve is separated from the banks of the Brigach by the Black Forest Railway embankment ; towards this episodically flooded part of the floodplain or even towards the course of the Brigach there is no superficial runoff. In the east, the area extends to an edge of the terrain, over which the adjacent lower left slope foot of the Brigachtal is used for arable farming.
