The Kraftstein nature reserve is a nature reserve designated on March 5, 1986 by ordinance of the Freiburg Regional Council in the area of the city of Mühlheim an der Donau near the eponymous hamlet of Kraftstein .

location

The nature reserve is entirely located in the municipality of Mühlheim an der Donau in the Tuttlingen district in the Hohe Schwabenalb natural area . It lies at an altitude of 850 m above sea level. NHN in the layers of the Upper Jurassic .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose according to the Protected Areas Ordinance is the preservation as a “habitat of rare and endangered animal and plant species and animal and plant communities” and as “a part of the landscape shaped by humans and of particular character and beauty”.

Landscape character

It is a high plateau on the Bräunisberg, which is completely covered by a juniper heather .

Flora and fauna

The flora of the power stone essentially corresponds to that of a limestone grassland in the Swabian Alb. There is a larger occurrence of the yellow gentian . Within the reserve force stone among other breeds Woodlark .

Contiguous protected areas

The nature reserve is part of the FFH area Großer Heuberg and Donautal . It is also in the Upper Danube Nature Park and in the bird sanctuary in the Südwestalb and Upper Danube Valley .
