The Feuchtwiesen Schwandorf are a nature reserve designated by the Freiburg regional council on January 12, 2017 by ordinance in the area of ​​the municipality of Neuhausen ob Eck in the district of Tuttlingen and the municipality of Sauldorf in the district of Sigmaringen .

location

The Feuchtwiesen Schwandorf nature reserve extends from the village of Oberschwandorf to Boll in the Wettbach and Krummbach valley . Another sub-area is located northeast of Oberschwandorf. It is in the Danube-Ablach-Platten natural area .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the protection purpose is “the preservation and development of the area as a mosaic of cohesive, predominantly extensively used, moist and fresh grassland communities”, as a “structurally rich area with woody islands as well as stream meadows, vineyards and tall herbaceous meadows that shape the landscape” and as a “habitat for numerous endangered, partly extinct threatened animal and plant species, especially as breeding, migration and wintering areas for numerous bird species. "

Landscape character

The area is determined by various types of grassland. In addition to dry to fresh smooth oat meadows, the namesake wet meadow communities (cabbage thistle meadows and whistle grass meadows) in the meadows of Wettbach, Krummbach and Erlengraben as well as in the “Enisbruch” and “Schluh” tubs are of particular importance.

Flora and fauna

In the area including the coming White Hellebore (Veratrum album) , the grass-sedge (Carex cespitosa) , the grape downy brome (Bromus racemosus) , the Spatelblättrige ragwort (Tephroseris helenitis) and the Siberian iris (Iris sibirica) ago.

About 50 species of birds breed in the area, including the whinchat , stonechat , lapwing , common snipe , tree pipit and stock dove . The blue cranesbill and the dark blue blue ant also occur in the area. In addition, marsh hoppers , marsh grasshoppers , southern blue arrow , blue-winged demoiselle and harvest mouse were detected.
