The Wasenried area is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.116) in the north of the Baden-Württemberg city of Sigmaringen and in the south of the municipality of Bingen in the district of Sigmaringen in Germany, designated by ordinance of February 24, 1984 by the Tübingen regional council .
description
The Wasenried is described as "a flat moor with a rocky forest ridge protruding into the moor vegetation unit and diverse biotopes with a great wealth of plant and animal species."
location
The approximately eleven hectares large nature reserve Wasen Ried is one natural area to the Middle Flächenalb . It is located around 2.2 kilometers northeast of the center of Sigmaringen in a depression in the lower Lauchert valley , at an altitude of 604 m above sea level. NN
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the maintenance of a wetland (flat moor) with a rocky forest ridge protruding into the moor vegetation. This increases the diversity of the biotope design and the resulting biodiversity. There are numerous rare animal and plant species.
Partner protected areas
The Wasenried is surrounded by the landscape protection area “ Laucherttal mit Sebentälern ” (4.37.001) and is part of both the FFH area “ Areas around the Laucherttal ” (7821341) and the bird protection area “ Südwestalb and Upper Danube Valley ” (7820441).
