The Laubbachmühle area was a nature reserve near Ostrach in the Baden-Württemberg district of Sigmaringen in Germany . It rose on January 9, 2017 in the Pfrunger-Burgweiler Ried nature reserve .

history

The area within sight of the Pfrunger-Burgweiler Ried nature reserve used to be used as a litter meadow . After the area was no longer used for agriculture from the 1960s, reeds and bushes endangered the biotope . On the occasion of plans to transform the hill spring moor Laubbachmühle around the Laubbacher Mühleweiher into a chain of fish ponds, the state of Baden-Württemberg acted on a private initiative and bought the property. The 3.2 hectare area was placed under nature protection on July 2, 1981.

The country's maintenance teams removed the wild growth every two years. This created light for the almost extinct biodiversity . The measure was successful. In the beginning it was mowed by hand and with bar mowers, today heavy machines are used for clearing.

In 2017, the protected area was integrated into the Pfrunger-Burgweiler Ried nature reserve .
