The area of Ruschweiler and Volzer See is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.162) in the Baden-Württemberg community of Illmensee in the district of Sigmaringen in Germany, which was designated by ordinance of October 18, 1989 by the Tübingen regional council .

location

The approximately 70 hectare (ha) nature reserve Ruschweiler and Volzer See with the Ruschweiler See (22.1 ha) and the Volzer See (4.7 ha) naturally belong to the Upper Swabian hill country . It is located about one kilometer northwest of the Illmenseer center in the districts Illmensee and Rusch hamlet , at an average altitude of 693 m above sea level. NN .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation, promotion and further improvement of the ecological value of a high moor remnant of considerable size and the various moor biotopes surrounding it as a habitat for a species-rich, characteristic flora and fauna, as an archive of natural and landscape historical development and for scientific purposes.
