The Herdle is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.165) in the north of the municipality of Neufra in the Baden-Württemberg district of Sigmaringen in Germany, which was designated by ordinance of March 26, 1990 by the Tübingen regional council .

description

The Herdle is described as "a valuable hedge landscape characterized by the alternation of rows of hedges, field trees, semi-dry lawns, fringes and agricultural areas in between."

location

The approximately 64 hectare large nature reserve Herdle is one natural area to the Middle Kuppenalb . It is located about one and a half kilometers north of the center of Neufra, on a plateau between the Fehlatal and Laucherttal , east of the federal road 32 , at an altitude of about 745  m above sea level. NN .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose of the Herdle nature reserve is preservation and promotion

  • the cultural landscape typical of the Swabian Alb, characterized by low hedges, high hedges and tree hedges, as a breeding, feeding and resting biotope for animal species that are bound to such hedge landscapes
  • Meadow vegetation that is rich in species and characterized by different degrees of dryness as a habitat for numerous endangered and protected and nutrient-poor plant species
  • of the different hedge types with their diverse species composition, especially their stock of endangered wild rose species
  • of the unwooded dry valleys as geological documents
  • the beauty of the uniqueness of the richly structured landscape, characterized by the alternation of open meadows and rows of hedges and wooded fields
  • of measures that contribute to the ecological optimization of the area.

Partner protected areas

The Herdle is part of both the FFH area " Areas around the Laucherttal " (7821341) and the Upper Danube Nature Park .

Flora and fauna

14 species of locusts have been discovered in the meadows of the Herdle . Four of these species are endangered, one is critically endangered. Even butterflies and burnet are represented with more than fifty species in the protected area unusually rich.
