The Wartenberg landscape protection area is a protected landscape area (LSG number 3.27.067) in the area of the city of Geisingen , which was designated by the Tuttlingen District Office of January 10, 1994 .
Location and description
The protected area is about one kilometer west of Geisingen. It includes the 845 meter high volcanic mountain of the same name in the Swabian Alb . The area belongs to the natural areas 092- Baaralb and Upper Danube Valley and 121- Baar within the main natural units 09- Swabian Alb and 12- Gäuplatten in the Neckar and Tauberland . The nature reserve 3019- Unterhölzer Wald is immediately adjacent to the west. The LSG is located entirely in the Baar bird sanctuary and the Obere Donau Nature Park .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation of this part of the landscape, which surrounds the northernmost basalt cone of the Hegau volcanoes, due to its peculiarity and beauty and to maintain its recreational value for the general public.
