history

Tiefenbronn 1977

Tiefenbronn was first mentioned in 1105 in the Codex Hirsaugiensis . During the time of the tribal duchies, the place was in the Duchy of Franconia . Later it was owned by the Lords of the Stain . Jakob von Stein sold the place in 1407 to the baron Diether V. von Gemmingen , who founded the Gemmingen-Hagenschieß line of the barons of Gemmingen . Since 1806 the place belonged to the Grand Duchy of Baden , which in 1839 also bought the property of the Gemminger family. From June 25, 1939 Tiefenbronn, Lehningen and Mühlhausen were part of the Pforzheim district . In 1945 the localities became part of the American zone of occupation and thus belonged to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Baden , which became part of the current state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952. The current community was formed on January 1, 1972 by the union of the communities Tiefenbronn, Lehningen and Mühlhausen. In 1973 the district reform took place in Baden-Württemberg , when the new municipality came to the Enzkreis.

In the 1990s, Tiefenbronn made headlines across the country several times: On the one hand, several skylights and buildings were damaged when chunks of ice were repeatedly hit from aircraft toilets. A kidnapping case also brought the press to Tiefenbronn in 1997.

In the district of Tiefenbronn, the cultural and historical celebrity is its 600 year old church of St. Maria Magdalena , which offers several sights. In addition to a Gothic silver monstrance by Jörg Seldere, it houses the main works of two masters: the high altar by Hans Schüchlin from 1469 and the Magdalene altar by Lukas Moser from 1432.

In the district of Mühlhausen, the Catholic Church of St. Alexander from 1495 with its grave slabs from 1607 and 1732 as well as the old moated castle Steinegg with defensive wall from 1551/1553 are worth seeing. The castle came into the possession of the Protestant community in 1823 through the work of Aloys Henhöfer .

In the district of Lehningen, the small Catholic church of St. Ottilien in the center of the village is worth seeing. It was built around 1500.

regional customs

For many decades, Tiefenbronn has been cultivating the carnival tradition, which is one of the most important local customs. In 1954, the Tiefenbronner Carnevalverein (TCV) was founded. B. ceremonial meetings, masked balls, the Tiefenbronn carnival parade or the burning of snowmen are organized. Thus, the Tiefenbronner Fasnet is the oldest of its kind in the Enzkreis, Pforzheim area and beyond. There are also nine mask and guild groups that actively participate in the carnival. The symbolic figure of the Tiefenbronner Fasnet is the Schmellenhopfer (nickname of the Tiefenbronner). Every year the fools are presided over by a new Schmellenprinz.
