stone
The place Stein was first mentioned in 1150. The Margraves of Baden , to whom the place was subordinate, built it into a fortress ( Burg Stein ) in 1350 . The lords of the stone were local nobility. In 1490 Stein received market rights . In 1783, Margrave Karl Friedrich abolished serfdom in the whole of Baden and thus also in Stein.
Koenigsbach
Königsbach was first mentioned in a document in 1252. In 1429, the Lords of Venningen received Königsbach as a fief from Margrave Friedrich von Brandenburg . In July 1622, Königsbach was burned down by imperial troops during the Thirty Years' War . The residents who fled to the church were murdered there. Around 1650 part of the place came under the rule of the margraves of Baden-Durlach .
In 1756, Margrave Karl Friedrich revoked serfdom through a letter of grace . In 1806, the noble part of Königsbach also fell to the newly established Grand Duchy of Baden . In 1863 Königsbach received a station on the Karlsruhe – Mühlacker railway line .
The Baden revolutionary Friedrich Wilhelm Henninger was a pastor in Königsbach from 1872, where he died in 1881.
Koenigsbach stone
Since June 25, 1939, Stein and Königsbach were assigned to the new Pforzheim district . In 1973 the district reform in Baden-Württemberg took place , when the communities came to the Enzkreis. The municipality of Königsbach-Stein was created on July 1, 1974 as part of the administrative reform through the merger of the two municipalities of Königsbach and Stein.
