history

Wimsheim was first mentioned in a document in 1229 as an estate of the Bebenhausen monastery under the names Winoldishen , Winmotesheim , Wimesheim and Wimitesheim . In 1232 it was sold to Maulbronn Monastery . After the War of the Bavarian-Palatinate Succession, the monastery came to Württemberg in 1504 . In 1634, during the Thirty Years' War , the place was burned down. Most of the residents, except about a dozen, died from plague and starvation during that time.

From 1809 Wimsheim belonged to the Oberamt Leonberg , which in 1938 became the district of Leonberg . Since the dissolution of this district on January 1, 1973, the place belongs to the Enzkreis and thus to the administrative district of Karlsruhe.

Cell tower
