history

In 1850, C. Hafner was founded by Carl Hafner in Pforzheim as a company for sweeping cleaning . Since Pforzheim was one of the world's largest centers for jewelry and watch production at that time, precious metals were mainly recycled from waste from jewelry and watch production in Carl Hafner's company . In 1892, Robert Hafner Senior, representing the second generation of the founding family, merged the company with the Carl Dieterle trial facility. From 1920 the production of semi-finished products for the jewelry industry was introduced. Herbert Hafner built up the metallurgical laboratory and gradually developed metal alloys a. a. also for dentistry and thus laid the foundation for the dental division. The highlight in 1930 was the development of the first tooth-colored gold alloy . 1945 Robert Hafner jun. after his return from captivity, the company that had been destroyed in the war reopened. In 1995 the management of the company was transferred to the fifth generation of the family, Birgitta Hafner and Philipp Reisert. In August 2015, C. Hafner moved into the newly built company headquarters in Wimsheim . The location of the separation in Pforzheim remained.

C. Hafner sees it as his responsibility to make his contribution against global climate change. In 2019, the company became the first gold and silver refinery to make its gold production CO₂ neutral.
