Reichart Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Reichart Prize is awarded by the Academy of Charitable Sciences in Erfurt in conjunction with the state capital Erfurt , the University of Erfurt and the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt . It is presented by the mayor of the city and the president of the academy annually around Christian Reichart's birthday.

The prize is named after Christian Reichart (1685–1778) from Erfurt , whose "practical and scientific versatility is exemplary for the interdisciplinary prize for young scientists". Reichart earned merits as an organist, organ builder, in fire armaments and vigilante groups, as mayor and councilor, as the founder and pioneer of Erfurt commercial horticulture, and in 1754 as a founding member and senate member of the Electoral Maintzische Academy of Useful Sciences in Erfurt .

The Reichart Prize is intended to be awarded for graduation work of any scientific discipline that shows a clear application reference. The aim of this applicability is the common benefit, as it is expressed in the program of the Erfurt Academy and in the life's work of Christian Reichart. The prize is endowed with 2,000 euros. The award ceremony takes place at the festive meeting of the academy in Erfurt .
