The name Ehingen

There are several places called Ehingen. In addition to the gender described here, there is also a local noble family called Ehingen from Ehingen in the Augsburg district .

history

The von Ehingen family is a Swabian knightly noble family (see also list of Swabian noble families ).

They were members of the Sankt Jörgenschild Society in the Neckar-Black Forest . Family members then belonged to the Swabian Federation from 1548 . During the Franconian War Rudolf von Ehingen was captain of the mounted troops (see also Wandereisen woodcuts from 1523 ).

Their possessions included the town and castle of Obernau , and until 1608 half of Bühl and Börstingen . Other possessions were Hohenentringen , Ergenzingen , Kreßbach , Schwarzenburg , Lichtenegg Castle and Lombach . They died out in 1697 and ownership passed to von Raßler .

Jakob von Ehingen extended the Weitenburg in 1585 to include the "Ehingerbau". Since he remained childless, he sold the castle to Duke Johann Friedrich von Württemberg . After his death, the Lords of Closen took over his inheritance in 1608 by marrying a daughter from the house.
