Hohenentringen

Hohenentringen Castle is located on the edge of Schönbuch a little east of Ammerbuch - Entringen and west of Tübingen - Hagelloch . Although it is in the area of the municipality of Ammerbuch, it can only be reached on a public road from Hagelloch.

history

The first written name of an Entringer nobleman can be found in the founding deed of Hirsau Monastery from 1075. Noble knights are named here as witnesses, including an Adalbertus de Antringen. They built the castles in Entringen .

The family seat of the Entringer Herren was probably east of the choir of St. Michael in Entring. The castle Graneck was the middle castle, to which the Flurname Central Bürketle points. Only a few remains of the wall have survived. Hohenentringen Castle was built up on the mountain in the 12th century, probably because it was too unsafe down in the village.

Around 1300 the entringer men died out. Then the Ehinger , Hailfinger and Validlinger took over the castle. The coats of arms of twenty owner families are in the inn.

The current castle was built in the 15th and 16th centuries and has been rebuilt several times. In 1417 5 related families lived in the castle. According to legend, on Sundays they went to church with their 100 children in such a stately procession that the first arrived at the village while the last left the castle. This scene was painted by Gunhild von Ow in 1913 and is now hanging in the restaurant.

Count Eberhard bought parts of the castle in Entringen in 1468 and gave them to Barbara Gonzaga of Mantua as a wedding gift in 1474 . In 1503 she died in Hohenentringen.

The current mighty building was built in 1720. The two farm buildings at the entrance to the courtyard date from 1724 and 1727.
