Location of Talheim in Horb am Neckar

Talheim is a district of the large district town of Horb am Neckar in Baden-Württemberg .

history

In 782 the town of Daleheim was first mentioned in a document. However - archaeological finds and graves prove it - people must have settled here as early as the Hallstatt period. In the Middle Ages , the place was divided into Obertalheim and Untertalheim because of an inheritance in the house of the former local nobles Kechler zu Schwandorf. In the course of history, both districts belonged to Upper Austria , then to Württemberg and later to the Upper Office of Nagold .

Hunger, plague, looting and the consequences of the coalition wars left their mark on the population. The famine years of 1846/47 in particular caused many to leave Talheim for America .

The two districts of Talheim were spared from the First and Second World Wars - at least no war damage was known. In the 1970s, both districts were incorporated into the large district town of Horb am Neckar as part of the district and community reform. First, on July 1, 1971, Untertalheim was incorporated. Obertalheim followed on January 1, 1975. In 2004, the districts were then merged to form the Talheim district.

today

The village of Talheim (around 2600 inhabitants in 2011) is located in the Steinach Valley on the northern outskirts of Horb, at the transition to the Black Forest . Agriculture was dominant here for a long time before the economic structure changed significantly in the middle of the 20th century. From around 1950, many residents found employment and livelihoods in the large companies Daimler in Sindelfingen, as well as IBM and HP in Böblingen, or the fishing works in Waldachtal. The basic supply of the Talheimer secure shops as well as craft and service companies.

Infrastructure

Talheim developed along the Steinach , which deeply cuts through the plateau from west to east. Today most of the residents live outside the old town centers of the two sub-communities in the two new housing estates on the heights. Down in the valley are:

  • the community center (since 1999) with town hall
  • the elementary schools
  • an evangelical church
  • two catholic churches
  • the sports and festival hall
  • Shopping
  • a doctor's practice, various craft businesses and service providers

Halfway up or above:

  • Sports facilities
  • Kindergartens (municipal and church)
  • Industrial companies

The water supply is partly guaranteed by its own springs and, since 2001, has also been guaranteed by the Kleine Kinzig water supply . Green maintenance sponsors volunteer to look after the urban green spaces, biotopes and other spaces.

In 2009 the expansion of the listed monastery barn was completed after a five-year construction period. It offers rooms for village, club and community life.

The Barbel-West building area , which connects the two settlements of the former suburbs of Ober- and Untertalheim , is currently being developed.

Religions

The village of Talheim has two Catholic parish centers that belong to the Freudenstadt dean's office :

  • Catholic Church of St. Martinus, completed in 1979
  • Catholic Church of St. Michael and Laurentius, built in 1835.

Together with the neighboring community of Haiterbach , Talheim forms an evangelical pastoral care unit with its own community center in Talheim (parish of Talheim ).

Associations and groups

Starting with the mask dusting of the fool's guilds (NZ Untertalheim and Brechalochhexa Obertalheim) on January 6th to the New Year's Eve blows of the music clubs (MV Fortuna Talheim and MV Obertalheim) shortly before the turn of the year, a total of 16 clubs enliven the village community (including the male choir friendship Talheim, volunteer fire brigade Obertalheim , Untertalheim volunteer fire brigade). The former clubs FC Untertalheim and SF Obertalheim are still independent, today football is played together in the SG Talheim.
