The so-called " NATO settlement Haugenstein" in the vicinity of the Hohenberg barracks once housed French officers. In 2010 the settlement was sold to a private investor.

history

overview

The place is mentioned several times in documents in the year 768 and in the following years. The Bildechinger Viereckschanze , which is around 2000 years old, also exists in the Bildechinger district , which indicates an at least temporary, longer settlement of the area in pre-Christian times.

The parish church, visible from afar, with its steeple, some of which dates back to the Romanesque period , is a landmark of the community and the surrounding Gäu plateau. Already in the year 772 a basilica in Bildechingen is mentioned in documents of the Lorsch monastery . The Romanesque parts of the church should also date from this time. According to a document that was found in the reliquary grave during renovation work in 1942, the high altar is said to have been consecrated on October 9, 1403.

As can be seen from documents, the place originally belonged to a family of the same name, of whom a Walter is named in 1274 and a Hartmann in 1294. In 1287, Count Palatine Ludwig von Tübingen sold a farm, chapel and tithe barn to Kniebis Monastery . The Allerheiligen monastery also had properties here in 1265.

The village has always belonged to the County of Hohenberg and the Obervogteiamt Horb, whose fate it shared for a long time. In the 12th and 13th centuries, in addition to the monasteries of Allerheiligen and Kniebis, the Alpirsbach monastery was also wealthy here. In addition, the secular aristocracy had well-known properties here, which frequently changed hands. Often it was debts that the cheerful gentlemen paid off with Bildechinger plaice.

After the Duke of Württemberg dissolved the Kniebis monastery in the course of the Reformation in 1535, its last prior Beatus Pleiss withdrew to the chapel ownership (Zehntscheuer) in Bildechingen. This unconsciously created a prerequisite for the parish that became independent on November 19, 1812.

A very sad chapter in the history of the Gäugemeinde begins with the Thirty Years War , in which famine, plague and epidemics raged among the population. Most of the fields lay fallow. Plundering people of war abused the residents, stole cattle from the plow and wagon. For many years the community had to suffer from burdens and troop movements; in addition there were frequent storms that destroyed the harvests. The will to live of the population was stronger and stronger and the hard work and the decidedly good community spirit in the citizenry defied all these difficulties.

The purely rural community a few years ago has seen rapid development and has grown into a workers' community through the development of the new development areas "Hirsche", "Mühlwasen" and "Gries". The settlement of businesses has contributed to job creation and made the community more attractive.

The place is connected to the collective sewage treatment plant in Horb. The community has had a water connection since 1907 and was connected to the electricity network in 1910.

On July 1, 1971, Bildechingen became a district of the city of Horb am Neckar , which later became a major district town , as part of the community reform . There is a kindergarten and a primary school on site. In fulfillment of the incorporation agreement with the city of Horb, the gymnasium and festival hall was handed over to its intended use on June 8, 1974. In 1991, the new kindergarten building was moved into "Breite".

In the summer of 2018, the community celebrated its 1250th anniversary with a big festival.

coat of arms

The Bildechingen coat of arms shows a fallen red ploughshare on a white (silver) background, accompanied by two five-petalled red roses. The date of acceptance of the coat of arms is no longer verifiable.

The ploughshare is an old mark , the roses a symbol of Mary (reference to St. Mary's Church). The colors are taken from the coat of arms of the Counts of Hohenberg.

Ortneckname Blockstrecker

An old tradition says that the Bildechingen town council once took a break while inspecting the forest. When the members of the parish council wanted to sit on a tree trunk, not everyone had space. One then tried to stretch the block, which was successful.

Since then, the Bildechingers have been known by the Ortsneck name “Blockstrecker”.

In the Bildechinger fools guild there has been a block straightener group since 1994, which refers to the tradition.

The solid construction has ground-floor openings belonging to a warehouse and two residential floors that can be reconstructed above, as well as a bridge connection to the tower of the neighboring church. Since 2000, after a two-year conversion period, the Zehntscheuer has been used as the community center of the Catholic Church in Bildechingen.

Economy and Infrastructure

traffic

Rathaus Bildechingen with bus stop (2010)

Bundesstraße 14 runs right through Bildechingen and separates the old town center from the two settlements. For decades there has been a discussion in Horb and the region about whether a bridge should be built over the Neckar valley or a so-called Gäutrasse (the new B 28 between Freudenstadt and Ergenzingen ). This should also relieve Bildechingen from traffic.

Infrastructure

  • Former town hall from 1843, today with a citizen service point
  • Primary school,
  • Kindergarten,
  • Volunteer firefighter
