Leonbronn is a village in the district of Heilbronn in Baden-Württemberg , which together with Ochsenburg formed the municipality of Burgbronn from 1971 to 1974 , the suburbs of which have belonged to Zaberfeld since January 1, 1975 .

history

Located in the upper valley of the Zaber at its tributary Riesenbach, it was first mentioned in 1289 as "Lincbrunnen". The place came from the medieval local rule , the Lords of Magenheim , via Baden to the Counts of Vaihingen and finally in 1355 to Württemberg . Main vassals were the 14th and 18th century, the lords of rock star , in the 14th and 15th centuries also had the lords of Wunnenstein, Dürrmenz, Talheim , Enzberg and Urbach shares locally. Leonbronn belonged to the Oberamt Güglingen until 1810 , then to the Oberamt Brackenheim until 1938 and since then to the district of Heilbronn . In 1939 there were 549 inhabitants, at the end of 1945 there were 568.

On January 1, 1971, the communities of Leonbronn and Ochsenburg merged to form the new community of Burgbronn, which merged with Zaberfeld and its district of Michelbach to form the new community of Zaberfeld on January 1, 1975 as part of the Baden-Württemberg community reform .

The place was the end point of the Zabergäubahn from 1901 to 1995 . The Royal Württemberg State Railways built the station building as a standard type IIa station.

Buildings

James Church
  • The Protestant Church of St. James dates back to a medieval chapel and has been the parish church of the village since 1485. At the church there is a sandstone epitaph of a son of the Lords of Sternenfels who died early, as well as a memorial plaque for Wilhelm Zimmermann , who was pastor in Leonbronn from 1854 to 1864.
  • Not far from the church is an old stone table with four stone benches, which, according to tradition, is said to have been the court table of the central court of the lost hamlet of Möderhausen. However, such a special dish is not in use there, so that the table could also have served other purposes in the Almandwald, founded in 1378 by the noblewoman von Bongertsfelden.
  • To the west of the church is the historic rectory from 1596.
  • In Leonbronn there are numerous historical residential and farm buildings, including half-timbered buildings, an old bakery and rural properties from around 1900.
