As the oldest members of the family, Dieter von Talheim is mentioned as a witness or Teidigungsmann in 1230 and Hagen von Talheim and his brother Reinboto Hermannus as "miles" (knight) von Talheim in the years 1231–1255. The brothers Rugger von Talheim and Albertus von Talheim appear in 1270–1290. Albert († 1287) becomes canonicus and canon and cathedral dean in Öhringen and Würzburg and is mentioned as the Mosbach provost . In 1278 there is Conradus von Talheim, who embarks on a professional career as "advocatus de Affeltrach " and is named as "ius dictus de Talheim" (juror of Talheim).

The Lords of Talheim founded a Poor Clare Monastery in 1289 in the district of Flein , which was moved to Heilbronn in 1302 .

In 1327 Wolfram von Talheim appears, who is enfeoffed with a tithe in Kocherthürn . In 1351 Pope Clement VI. the married couple Gerhard and Isengard von Talheim the right to vote with regard to their confessor.

In 1362 a Bernholt von Talheim appears in an homage to Bruchsal . The bishop Johann von Worms gives parts of Brackenheim as a fief to the brothers Rafan, Gerhard, Hans and Dieter von Talheim.

The lords of Talheim originally the local government held in Talheim, but by inheritance in several Ganerbenanteile was fragmented. In 1542 there were five lords of Talheim among the eight gan heirs.

Gerhard the Old of Talheim was the Obervogt in Lauffen am Neckar from 1470 to 1505 and brought the entire Upper Castle in Talheim into his possession. His son Rafan was the Württemberg councilor and educator of Duke Ulrich . Rafan's brothers Gerhard and Joachim shared the castle. Joachim's sons sometimes held high offices: Hans von Talheim capitulated in 1519 during the siege of Hohentübingen . Bernhard von Talheim was Ulrich's military leader in the battle of Lauffen in 1534 , captain in the Hessian army in the Schmalkaldic War and in 1538 Obervogt zu Beilstein and Bottwar . His brother Reinhard von Talheim was the governor in 1558 in Weinsberg . His son Hans Ulrich von Talheim still had an inheritance share of one sixth of the local rule of Talheim. He also owned the tithe as a Würzburg fiefdom, but had to sell it in 1597 to cover his debts. He was the last resident of Talheim and died on July 9, 1605.

In addition to the family line at the headquarters in Talheim, there were other lines in other places. The Palatine steward Peter von Talheim exchanged the Thalheim house in Eberbach for a court from the Palatinate in 1427 . In Zuzenhausen a Talheim line is mentioned from 1323 to 1494, in Rauenberg the Lords of Talheim have been recorded since 1434. A Philipp Melchior von Talheim from Rauenberg applied for the vacated Talheim fief in 1605, but could no longer prove that he was related to the Talheim line. Philipp Melchior was believed to be the last bearer of the name and died in 1630.
