Unterdigisheim is a district of Meßstetten in the Zollernalb district in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ). The place is southwest of Meßstetten in the valley of the Bära .

history

Unterdigisheim was part of the County of Hohenberg , which fell in 1381 through sale to the Habsburg estates in Upper Austria . The local rule in Unterdigisheim was the rule of Werenwag . In 1527 Hanns Schyblin was the Rollin Vogt in Unterdigisheim. According to the draft list from 1521, the Ashen valley was to be viewed by the Digisheim soldiers. A Liebfrauenkapelle was mentioned in the 15th century, but Unterdigisheim was initially a branch of Nusplingen, then of Heinstetten and finally of Hartheim. The Kurratkaplanei, founded in 1752, was elevated to a parish in 1843. A Gothic baptismal font with the Laubenberg coat of arms from 1518 next to a crucifixion group around 1500, images of the apostles by Stanislaus Stegmüller from 1793 and Madonna from 1723 could be preserved in the church. In the 18th century the local rulership was in the hands of the barons of Ulm, from whose family also the regional president Carl von Ulm zu Erbach came from. As a result of the mediatization, Unterdigisheim became part of the Electorate of Württemberg in 1805 . From 1806, the place subordinated to the Oberamt Balingen belonged to the newly established Kingdom of Württemberg . Until 1858 the barons of Ulm were still the direct feudal lords. Unterdigisheim came to the district in 1934 and to the district of Balingen in 1938 . On July 1, 1972, Unterdigisheim was incorporated into Meßstetten.

Say

The Lochbrunnenhöhle, which has been explored over a length of 300 meters, should lead to the Bühlenbröller below the Lochen Youth Hostel.

Mice in water pipes

On May 21, 1901, apprentice Keppler wrote from Meßstetten about the neighboring town: "The Unterdigisheimer are d`Deichelmäus". (A dike is a pierced tree trunk, formerly used for water pipes.) Such a trunk was once pierced. After having drilled deep enough on both sides, one could see through whether the hole went completely through the trunk. However, the borehole was crooked, you couldn't see out the other side. Do what? It was agreed to let a mouse jump through the trunk: if it comes out on the other side, the hole is complete, otherwise it will have to be drilled for a long time. No sooner said than done! Hence the name "Deichelmäus"! "

Agriculture

In addition to agriculture and cattle breeding, fruit is also grown in Unterdigisheim in 1880. A tree keeper trained in Hohenheim ran a community nursery in Unterdigisheim. You grew the young strains yourself. The fruit trees were planted by the roadside on private land and in gardens, fields and meadows. In the land register, the use of the hard shoulder in Württemberg was regulated by easements . There were 168 tall apple trees, 129 pear trees , 115 plums and plums and 51 cherry trees in Unterdigisheim in 1878, some of the tall fruit trees could be preserved. The fruit is z. Th. Mossed, also burned (by a burner). In addition to King Wilhelm , the Brethren also gave away fruit trees. Horse keeping increased somewhat in 1880. Some horses are also pulled by leading the mares to the Ebingen slab. Today, suitable fruit varieties are made available as standard trunks from the nature conservation center in Beuron via bulk orders, together with a stake. The orchards are not only so valuable because of their landscape-defining importance, but also because of their ecological wealth. A professional full-time fruit growing consultant in the Zollernalb District District Office promotes the cultivation of orchards.
