Tieringen is a district of Meßstetten with 1029 inhabitants (as of 2019) in the Zollernalb district .

geography

Tieringen is located on the Hohe Schwabenalb near the Albtrauf . The highest mountain in Tieringen is the Hörnle (956 m above sea level) on the Albtrauf.

history

The history of Tieringen goes back to an old Alemannic settlement in the 4th century. The village is first mentioned in documents in 1275; at that time it belonged to the Counts of Hohenberg . Around 1300 Count Friedrich von Zollern owned land and serfs in Tieringen.

On May 2, 1345 and 1347, Hossingen , Tieringen and Meßstetten were sold to Heinrich von Tierberg . In 1348, Count Heinrich von Hohenberg transferred the Bannwarten Hof in Tieringen to Heinrich the smith of Unterdigisheim. Already in Knobloch's Upper Baden gender book , the place Haiterbach is assigned the nickname of the Meßstetter side line of the Lords of Tierberg. Knight Heinrich von Tierberg called Haiterbach had very probably sold his property in Haiterbach and acquired his new rule, the center of which was Meßstetten. Finally in 1418 it was sold to the Count of Württemberg via the Knight of Tierberg .

In 1525 social and political dissatisfaction broke out in Meßstetten during the peasant uprising . Oberdigisheim and Tieringen became centers of the uprising. Right at the beginning of the year, the rebels looted the Schalksburg . The badge of the farmers around Balingen was a black and red flag with a white cross.

Oral tradition has it that Hossingen Castle was damaged during the Peasants' War and the pastor of Oberdigisheim was one of the leaders. Pastor Johannes Wendel was in close alliance with the rebels. On February 29, 1525, the soldiers of the Bauernjörg reached the Lochenpass via Tieringen . Fighting broke out below the holes. (see also abandoned Tieringen Castle )

At the time of the Duchy and the Kingdom of Württemberg, Tieringen belonged to the Oberamt Balingen , after the regional reform in 1938 to the district of the same name .

Its barren and stony soils forced numerous residents in the 19th century to leave the then agriculturally structured market town. This was also the reason why other sources of income had to be found, which at that time offered themselves in the form of weaving mills and spinning mills, to which the mechanics joined a little later. Today the place offers over 900 jobs.

During the district reform carried out in 1973 , Tieringen and the entire Balingen district became part of the new Zollernalb district. On January 1, 1974 Tieringen was incorporated into Meßstetten.

In 1978 the old town hall was demolished and a new functional building with a fire station was built. The fire station was enlarged and renovated in 1998. There are several hiking parking lots and trails in the area.

tourism

Tieringen barefoot path
Well watershed

Tieringen is a recognized resort with a family holiday village (indoor swimming pool and sauna), ski lift, cross-country ski trails, Nordic walking, tennis court, barefoot path and hiking trails.

In summer, on Sundays and public holidays, the Schischem-Rad-Wander-Bus 17/38 runs from Balingen via the Lochen and Tieringen to Schömberg and Rotenzimmern and back. In Balingen and Schömberg, the bus thus offers a connection to the offers of the bike-hiking shuttle of the Zollern-Alb-Bahn.

The place lies on the European watershed Rhine-Danube , to the south to the Danube the Bära drains , to the Neckar the Schlicher .

Hiking and biking trails

Tieringen has an extensive network of hiking trails created by the Swabian Alb Association . The Swabian Alb North Edge Path as well as circular hiking trails and cycle paths are signposted. The Schlichen hiking trail starts in Tieringen. As early as 1896, seven-day hikes combined with train journeys were advertised. Julius Wais describes in Albführer in 1901 a hike from the Laufen train station to the Gräbelesberg via the Lochenhörnle to the Lochenstein and on to the Balingen train station. J Nowadays, less experienced hikers can divide the route into stages in summer with the bike-hiking shuttle.

Say

Mock wedding on January 28, 1711

After a sham marriage of Wilhelmine von Grävenitz in Oberhausen Castle near Tieringen in 1711 by the Tieringen pastor, important documents from Tieringen are destroyed. The mistress of the country father also wanted to exercise her influence in the Evangelical Church. However, she failed to do this with the deeply religious superintendent. When she asked for her name to be included in the prayer in the Evangelical Church in Württemberg, Pastor Osiander in the Stuttgart Stiftskirche replied that this was already the case at every service in the seventh petition of the Our Father (with the words: 'Deliver us from evil '). His wages (at that time also through own farms) were stopped immediately.

religion

There is a Protestant church and a Käpelle in Tieringen .

Sports

The Tieringen sports club was formed in the autumn of 1963 from the ranks of the bowling club. In addition to the football department, the ski department, which had previously been part of the Kohlraisle home club, was also taken over. The women's gymnastics department was added in the early 1970s. Of the around 500 members, two grass pitches and a sports home have been built on the Goldrain sports grounds over the years.

traffic

A railway project at the beginning of the 20th century envisaged the construction of a railway line from the industrially prosperous Ebingen via Meßstetten to Nusplingen, where it was to be connected to the Heubergbahn from Spaichingen, which was also still to be built . In 1909 detailed plans were drawn up according to which Tieringen should also have its own train station. However, the project did not materialize.
