The federal highway 305 (abbreviation: B 305 ) is a German federal highway in Bavaria that leads from Bernau am Chiemsee to Marktschellenberg south of Salzburg to the state border with Austria .

The B 305 leads through the Achental , via Reit im Winkl , Ruhpolding , Inzell and the Berchtesgadener Land and is part of the German Alpine Road from Bernau to Berchtesgaden . It includes two passes, the Schwarzbachwachtsattel near Ramsau and the Masererpass near Reit im Winkl.

Today's B 305 was previously Reichsstraße 305. After Austria was annexed in 1938, today's Austrian B 160 also belonged to it.

The B 305 begins on the A 8 near Bernau am Chiemsee and first leads via Bernau and Grassau into the valley of the Tiroler Achen . It follows its course via Marquartstein to Unterwössen to the south and then climbs via Oberwössen to the Maserer Pass at 797 m. In the valley of the Weißlofer it goes to Reit im Winkl , where the B 305 turns east and in the valley of the Schwarzlofer ascends via Seegatterl , the valley town of the Winklmoos-Alm , to the Weitsee , Mittersee and Lödensee . Past the Förchensee and the Chiemgau-Arena , the famous biathlon stadium, the B 305 swings north into the valley of the Seetraun and the Weisse Traun until shortly before Ruhpolding , where it branches off to the east to Inzell.

There opens out near the Zwingsee the B 306 and performs southward over Weissbach on the Alpine Road in Weißbachtal according Schneizlreuth in the valley of Saalachtaler where it up to the lower Jettenberg together with the B 21 runs. From Unterjettenberg , the B 305 ascends in the Schwarzbachtal to the Schwarzbachwacht , a pass at 868 m. This is followed by the descent through Ramsau into the valley of the Ramsauer Ache , where the B 20 joins south of Bischofswiesen , which leaves the B 305 after a few kilometers at Berchtesgaden . From Berchtesgaden the B 305 runs in the valley of the Berchtesgadener Ache , the B 319 branches off here and leads over the Obersalzberg and Oberau to Unterau, where it joins the B 305 again. Via Marktschellenberg it reaches the Austrian border, here the Austrian Berchtesgadener Straße (B 160) continues towards Salzburg .
