The Förchensee (name of Förche = trout ) is located in the municipality of Ruhpolding four kilometers south of the center of Ruhpolding in the district of Traunstein in Upper Bavaria , on the German Alpine Road , here B 305 . Together with the hamlet of Seehaus, it belongs to the district (and an independent municipality until 1882) of Vachenau , but is surrounded by the area, which was free from municipalities until 1969, and what is now the Seehauser Forst district in Ruhpolding . So it is an exclave of the district Vachenau.
description
The Förchensee, located 739 meters above sea level, is a clear source lake of the Seetraun , into which no above-ground brooks flow and which therefore remains clear even with heavy or long-lasting rainfall. The area of the 460 meter long lake, which follows the north-northeast-south-southwest direction, is just under four hectares , with a circumference of 1,020 m. The lake is a maximum of five meters deep. The narrow northern part of the lake with a length of 70 m and a width of 6 to 20 m is called Das Paradies or simply The Spout .
In the hamlet of Seehaus at the northern end of the lake there is a restaurant, a guest house, boat rental, ticket sales for sport fishing, and an office of the Bavarian State Forest Administration (Revier Seehaus). Common fish species are char , brown trout and rainbow trout .
The Free State of Bavaria is the owner of the water.
