Expansion to the motorway feeder
In Stadtallendorf , the B 454 is being upgraded to a feeder road for the planned A 49 . The first construction phase, 1.6 kilometers in length and costing 9.5 million euros, was approved on December 22, 2006. The Waldstraße junction, which had previously been the same as the plan, was rebuilt. The federal road now runs over the junction without any intersections. Forest road as well as the entrances and exits of the federal road meet below in a large roundabout.
In the second construction phase, the federal road was lowered in the area of the intersection with Wetzlarer Strasse and Lilienthalstrasse. The B454 was moved to a six meter deep trough, the city streets meet above it at a roundabout. The exits / driveways also flow there. The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the beginning of May 2011. The second construction phase was 550 meters long and the construction costs were to be 7.7 million euros. The section was officially opened on August 13, and the cost was around 9 million euros.
The third construction phase includes the intersection with Hauptstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse. Here, too, the B454 is lowered. The start of construction is still open. The length of this construction section is 998 meters, the construction costs are estimated at 16.4 million euros. The expansion will result in total costs of around 33.4 million euros.
