Frielingen is a district of the Kirchheim community in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in eastern Hesse .

Geographical location

The place is at the assembly hall northwest of Kirchheim. The federal highway 454 runs through Frielingen .

history

In the years 1142 and 1146 the village was first mentioned as Frilingen . At that time it belonged, probably as a fiefdom of the Hersfeld Abbey , to the local noble family of the von Frielingen family. After they had already sold a part to the von Reckrodt for sale in 1365 , the place had many changing owners in the following centuries, all as feudal owners of the Hersfeld Abbey or its legal successor, the Landgrave of Hessen-Kassel .

In the village there was a castle built from solid stone in 1685, owned by a community of inheritors (including Meysenbug , Hanstein , Diede zum Fürstenstein ), which was demolished in 1785.

Frielingen used to belong to the Niederaula office . Until 1905 the children of went Heddersdorf after Frielingen in the school .

There are also numerous traditional associations in Frielingen, such as the fraternity, the volunteer fire brigade, the men's choir, the trombone choir and the carnival club.

On February 1, 1971, Frielingen was incorporated into the municipality of Kirchheim as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

Population development

In 1585 there were 50 households in the village, in 1747 there were only 38 households.
