Geographical location

The place is north of Kirchheim and is surrounded by forest.

history

The village was first mentioned in 1317 as "Rutharterade". After that the place was called "villa Rotharterode" and "Rotterderode". Later Rotterterode belonged to the Niederaula office . Ecclesiastically, the village has belonged to Kirchheim since 1747.

On December 31, 1971, Rotterterode was incorporated into the Kirchheim community.
