Reimboldshausen is a district of the municipality of Kirchheim in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in East Hesse .

Geographical location

Reimboldshausen is about 3.5 km southwest of the Kirchheim core town in the southern foothills of the Knüll Mountains . It is traversed by the Ibra , on which the Ibrastausee (also called Parksee ) lies a few hundred meters west of the village in the direction of the neighboring village of Kemmerode ; Reimboldshausen is located below the dam.

history

The place is mentioned for the first time in 1261. It was the seat of the nobles "de Reinboldeshusen". Later the place name changed from "villa Reimbolshusen" and "Rumelshusin" as well as "Rymboldishusen", then "Rümmershusen" and "Rymmelshausen" and "Römelshusen" to "Grimmelshausen" and ultimately to the current name. Between 1431 and 1531 the village was a desert .

On February 1, 1971, Reimboldshausen was incorporated into the municipality of Kirchheim as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

On August 22, 1977 at around 3 p.m. the village was hit by a dam break in the dam on Lake Ibrasee . The flood content of 500,000 m³ of water poured through the valley in a tidal wave up to three meters high.
