The Ibra is an approximately 9.7 km long, western and orographically right tributary of the assembly hall in the East Hessian mountainous region in the Schwalm-Eder district and the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg in northern Hesse ( Germany ) and belongs to the river system and catchment area of the Weser .

The Ibra rises in the Fulda-Haune-Tafelland , part of the East Hessian mountains, in the southern part of the Knüllgebirge . Its source is in the southeast part of the Schwalm-Eder district about 2.4 km southwest of the Oberaulaer district Ibra in the forest of the northern flank of the Rimberg ( 591.8 m ), at about 395 m above sea level. NHN .
Initially, the Ibra, which runs mainly west-northwest, flows to and through the village of Ibra. From now on it runs along the state road 3294, where it passes the Ringelsmühle . Then it reaches the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg along the district road 129, in which it is in the municipality of Kirchheim along the K 32, directly after the confluence of the Powerless Water , through Kemmerode , then through the Ibrastausee (also called Parksee ) and through Reimboldshausen and, directly after the Wölfelbach flows into it, flows through Gershausen . The Sauerbach (also called Silbergraben ), on which the Gershausen Lake is located, flows below it .
Then the Ibra reaches the core town of Kirchheim, where, after overcoming an altitude difference of around 159 m, it flows into the Aula , a tributary of the Fulda, coming from the north at around 236 m .

The Ibra flows in the natural spatial main unit group Osthessisches Bergland (No. 35) and in the main unit Fulda-Haune-Tafelland (355) through the subunit Ottrauer Bergland (355.0), and its confluence lies in the subunit Kirchheimer Bergland (355.4).
