geography

The place is in the Ohmbachtal in the West Palatinate . To the north is Ohmbach , northeast Steinbach am Glan and Börsborn , south Schoenberg Kübelberg and west is Dittweiler .

Municipal council

The municipal council in Brücken consists of 16 council members, who were elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a personalized proportional representation, and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Pius Klein (CDU) became mayor of Brücken on July 11, 2014. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in his office for another five years with 79.29% of the votes.

Toni Guhmann, as the predecessor of Pius Klein, held the office of mayor until 2014.

Economy and Infrastructure

Before the Second World War, Brücken was the economic center of the Palatine diamond grinding trade . In the Diamond Grinder Museum in Brücken there are original workplaces from different times and regrinding of the 35 largest and most important diamonds in the world. In front of the museum there is a statue of a diamond cutter, designed by the Lustadt sculptor Peter Brauchle .

traffic

The place is connected to the national traffic by the federal road 423 ( Mandelbachtal - Altenglan ). The A 6 is to the south and the A 62 to the northeast . In Glan-Münchweiler there is a train station of the Glantalbahn .
