history

Finds from the younger Stone Age and Roman times indicate an early settlement of the place.

Rammelsbach belonged to the so-called Remigiusland and was first mentioned in a document from Count Heinrich II. Von Veldenz from 1364. In 1444, the County of Veldenz fell to Count Palatine Stephan , Rammelsbach has since belonged to Pfalz-Zweibrücken and until the end of the 18th century was subordinate to the Altenglan mayor in the Oberamt Lichtenberg .

After 1792 French revolutionary troops occupied the region and annexed it after the Peace of Campo Formio (1797) . From 1798 to 1814 Rammelsbach belonged to the French Saardepartement and was assigned to the canton of Cusel . Due to the agreements reached at the Congress of Vienna (1815) and an exchange contract with Austria , the region became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816 . From 1818 the municipality of Rammelsbach was assigned to the Kusel regional commissioner in the Bavarian Rhine District, later to the Kusel district office, from which the Kusel district emerged in 1938 .

After the Second World War , the municipality within the French occupation zone became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate and belonged to the administrative district of Palatinate .
