Xaver Jung (* 23. March 1962 in Kusel ) is a German politician of the CDU . From 2013 to 2017 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

Life and work

Jung studied political science at the University of Heidelberg . This was followed by school music studies at the University of Music in Heidelberg and the postgraduate course “artistic degree in piano”. Jung worked as a teacher and most recently as a senior teacher. He was the local mayor of Rammelsbach and in the state committee for education in Rhineland-Palatinate. The CDU parliamentary group in the district council of the Kusel district elected him to be its chairman.

Jung is married and has two children, a son and a daughter. He is also chairman of the Rammelsbach gymnastics club.

Since the 2017/2018 school year he has been working again as a teacher at the Veldenz Gymnasium Lauterecken and at the Siebenpfeiffer Gymnasium Kusel in the fields of social studies and music.

MP

In the 2013 federal election , Jung was elected a member of the German Bundestag at 13th place on the CDU state list for Rhineland-Palatinate . In addition, he was a direct candidate in the Bundestag constituency of Kaiserslautern . As a member of parliament, Jung sat on the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment. As a reporter, he was responsible for pre-school and general school education, as well as for continuing education.

He is one of the 75 Union MPs - 68 from the CDU (26.9% of all CDU MPs) and 7 from the CSU (12.5% ​​of all CSU MPs) - who voted for same-sex marriage at the end of June 2017 .

In the 2017 Bundestag election , Jung missed re-entry into the Bundestag, but is the first to succeed in the event that a CDU holder from Rhineland-Palatinate leaves the Bundestag.
