Wilhelm Zierow

Wilhelm Zierow (born October 19, 1870 in Nienhagen , † October 5, 1945 in Güstrow ) was a Low German writer and teacher.

Life

Wilhelm Zierow was the son of a teacher and attended school in Sarmstorf after the family moved . He first went to the teachers' seminar in Neukloster in order to then complete additional training as a sports and drawing teacher in Dresden . In 1894 he became an assistant teacher in Schwerin . From 1895 he worked as a sports and drawing teacher at the cathedral school in Güstrow , where he retired in 1936.

He became known in Mecklenburg as an author in Low German . Zierow wrote stories and short stories, but also comedies that were also performed. Contributions from him can also be found in Mecklenburg. Journal of the Heimatbund Mecklenburg and Die Mecklenburgische Heimat as well as the Mecklenburgischen monthly issues .

His son Ulrich Zierow (1906–1949 or later) studied at the University of Rostock and was a contributor to the Quickborn's communications from 1933 , where he campaigned for the needs of the Flemings and the Low German movement in the National Socialist sense . After the Second World War he worked as a librarian in Berlin.
