Gnevkow is a municipality in the northeast of the Mecklenburg Lake District . It is administered by the Treptower Tollensewinkel office based in Altentreptow .
Geography and traffic
Gnevkow is about ten kilometers northwest of Altentreptow and about 22 kilometers southeast of Demmin . Landstrasse 35 (former Bundesstrasse 96 ) runs east of the community. The federal highway 20 can be reached via the connection Anklam . The Neubrandenburg - Stralsund railway ( Berliner Nordbahn ) runs through the community .

history
The place Gnevkow was first mentioned in 1268.
The place belonged to the Pomeranian office of Klempenow until 1818 . In 1862 the village Gnevkow with the state domain farm and Marienhöhe had 421 inhabitants.
On January 1, 1951, Validz formed a new community by leaving Gnevkow. On the same day, the previously independent municipality of Letzin was incorporated.

Coat of arms, flag, official seal
The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag . The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the region of Western Pomerania . It shows an upright griffin with a raised tail and the inscription "GEMEINDE GNEVKOW • LANDKREIS MECKLENBURGISCHE SEENPLATTE".
Attractions
The church Gnevkow is a plastered stone church from the 15th century. The altar wall (made from the wings of a former carved altar) shows figures of saints (first half of the 16th century). In front of the western gable wall is a newly built belfry with a bell from 1827.
The Letzin Church is an exposed stone church from the 15th century.
The Prützen church is a brick church with a half-timbered tower from 1758.
