Priepert is a municipality in the south of the Mecklenburg Lake District in southern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The municipality is administered by the Mecklenburgische Kleinseenplatte office with its seat in Mirow .

The municipality of Priepert was detached from the former municipality of Strasen-Priepert on May 7, 1990 ( Strasen is now part of the town of Wesenberg ).

Havel near Priepert

Priepert is about 17 kilometers south of Neustrelitz . The community is framed by the Ellbogensee in the south and the Großer Priepertsee in the north. The Havel flows through both lakes and the village . In the north of the municipality is the Great Wangnitzsee with several islands. Half of the municipality is covered by forest. The municipality of Priepert has 585 hectares of water. The Zerlingsee and the Kleine Wangnitzsee also belong to the district. The Great and Small Wangnitzsee were transferred to the municipality of Priepert in 2002 by the Wasserschifffahrtsdirektion Magdeburg on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Ziernsee is located near the Radensee district .

history

In 1351 Priepert was first mentioned in a document. Owners were the cousins ​​Otto and Ulrich von Dewitz, Counts von Fürstenberg, Herren zu Wesenberg and Strelitz. In 1501 the dukes of Mecklenburg raised a claim to parts of Priepert. In 1589 the first manor house was mentioned as a large, single-storey stone dwelling. After Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Mecklenburg-Güstrow were divided , Priepert belonged to the Güstrow part of the country in 1621 and was ruled from Güstrow .

After the Thirty Years War , only one farmer was counted in 1649. In 1702 Duke Adolf Friedrich II acquired the place by purchase. In 1712 a fire destroyed the residential palace in Strelitz, which is why the duke couple stayed in Priepert several times. In 1716 the mansion was rebuilt as a two-storey half-timbered building and in 1719 the nave was also rebuilt as a half-timbered structure. In 1752 the estate was assigned to the ducal chamber (= higher authority). From 1850 to 1905 there was a brickworks on the north side of the great Priepertsee. In 1885 there were no more farmers in Priepert, only Büdner and farm laborers on day wages.

The Karl Huebner family took over the estate in 1921. In 1924 she had a burial place built and consecrated. After the end of the Second World War, the last landowner, Hildegard Sack, nee. Hübner, the expropriated property. In the course of the land reform, land and goods were divided. In 1954 the community of Priepert took over the manor house, which was completely renovated in 1985, whereby the appearance of the house was completely changed by doing without the side wings. Six apartments were built.

On January 1, 1969, Priepert was merged with Strasen to form the new municipality of Strasen-Priepert. On May 7, 1990 the place became an independent municipality again.

In 2001 the community celebrated the 650th anniversary of the first mention.

In the federal competition of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) , Horst Seehofer's municipality was honored with a silver medal at the federal level.

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE PRIEPERT * LANDKREIS MECKLENBURGISCHE SEENPLATTE".

  • The village church Priepert is a half-timbered building from 1719. The layout and construction show Central German influences. The floor plan is an approximate square with attached half dodecagon - Choir . The bell tower is no longer on top of the church, as it was removed in the 1960s due to the risk of collapse. The visualization on the right shows the church as it originally looked. It was extensively renovated between 2000 and 2001.
  • Every summer the Havel Festival takes place on the festival meadow at the bathing beach, which attracts several thousand visitors every year. The fireworks display over the Priepertsee, fired from a pontoon, is the main attraction.

There are a number of water sports options in Priepert, a water hiker resting place, two mobile home parks, a camping site (C46), a marina, two canoe and boat rental stations and a canoe shop. On the east bank of the Great Priepertsee there is the festival meadow, which is also the venue for the Havelfest that takes place in July every year, the bathing beach and on the Great Priepertsee there is one of the few water-skiing trails in the Mecklenburg Lake District.

Transport links

A country road runs from the federal highway 96 , seven kilometers away , via Priepert to Rheinsberg or Wesenberg . The connection to Wesenberg and Neustrelitz is during the week with the buses of MVVG ensured the nearest train station is only in the Brandenburg town of Fuerstenberg / Havel .

Priepert is located on the junction of the Oberer Havel waterway (OHW) and the Müritz-Havel waterway (MHW).
