In the Mecklenburgische Kleinseenplatte office , two cities and two municipalities are amalgamated to handle their administrative business with their seat in Mirow . On July 1, 2004, the office was formed from the dissolved offices of Mirow and Wesenberg . On May 25, 2014, the community of Roggentin was incorporated into Mirow.

The office is located in the south of the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and borders the Oberhavel and Ostprignitz-Ruppin districts .

The office does not have an officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with a torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "AMT MECKLENBURGISCHE KLEINSEENPLATTE".

The extraordinary landscape of the Mecklenburg Lake District and the associated tourism characterize the district. In addition to the official area, the Feldberger Seenlandschaft region , as well as Burg Stargard , Neustrelitz and Penzlin as well as the regional center of Neubrandenburg are included in the "Kleinseenplatte" holiday region and are advertised by the Mecklenburg Lake District Tourist Board.
