The Lake District Department in Waren in the Mecklenburg Lake District extends from the south of Mecklenburg Switzerland to the heart of the Mecklenburg Lake District . It surrounds the city of Waren (Müritz) , which is not itself an official, but in which the official seat is located. The office borders on the Rostock district in the west and northwest .
Of the numerous lakes in the administrative area, the Müritz , Kölpinsee , Fleesensee (each proportionately) and Großer Varchentiner See , Torgelower See , Specker See and Jabelscher See (in full) are mentioned. The sources of the Nebel and the Ostpeene are located in the official area . The relief of the Lake Landscape Department in Waren, which was shaped by the Ice Age, shows slight differences in height (from approx. 40 m above sea level, Großer Varchentiner See to 127 m above sea level, near the Grabowhöfer district of Panschenhagen). The administrative area has shares in the Mecklenburg Switzerland and Kummerower See Nature Park in the north , in the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide Nature Park in the west and in the Müritz National Park in the southeast .
12 municipalities are united in the lake landscape department in goods to carry out their administrative business. The office was formed on January 1, 2005 from the former offices of Waren-Land and Moltzow . On January 1, 2013 the community of Vielist was incorporated into Grabowhöfe and Schwinkendorf after Moltzow, on January 1, 2015 Neu Gaarz after Jabel, and on March 26, 2019 Varchentin after Groß Plasten.
The federal highways 192 from Malchow via Waren (Müritz) to Malchin , the B 108 from Waren (Müritz) to Teterow and the B 194 from Waren (Müritz) to Stavenhagen lead through the official area, which is characterized by agriculture, forestry and tourism . The main line from Berlin to Rostock and the branch line from Waren (Müritz) to Parchim run through the area of the office .

Coat of arms, flag, official seal
The office does not have an officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with a torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription “* AMT SEENLANDSCHAFT WAREN * LANDKREIS MECKLENBURGISCHE SEENPLATTE”.
