Alt Schönau is a village in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany), which belongs to the municipality of Peenehagen .

Alt Schönau is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District , about 10 km from Waren (Müritz) . The wooded, hilly area around the place is north of the Müritz and northwest of the Torgelower See . The nature park Mecklenburgische Schweiz and Kummerower See adjoin the west of the Lansen-Schönau district .
history
The village of Alt Schönau appears as Schonowhage as early as 1230 in a deed of ownership from the Broda monastery . On January 1, 2005, the municipality merged with the neighboring municipality of Lansen to the north to form the municipality of Lansen-Schönau . On January 1, 2012, this went on in the municipality of Peenehagen.
In addition to their own homes, new hiking trails and a community center with a winter garden have been built in Alt Schönau in recent years. A lot has also been invested in road construction and street lighting.

Infrastructure
Alt Schönau is on the road from Malchin to Waren (Müritz) . The next train station is in Waren, from where there is a connection to Berlin and Rostock via the Lloyd Railway and to Parchim via the Mecklenburg Southern Railway . Until 1998 there was also a stop on the now disused railway line Waren – Malchin .
