The Torgelower See is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany) and is located at the transition from the hilly terminal moraine landscape to a flatter ground moraine landscape. The Ostpeene flows through the lake from south to north. The Gorbäck brook flows into the water at Torgelow. The area southwest of the lake reaches heights of almost 90 meters above sea level , i.e. about 50 meters above the water level of the lake.
In the west of the lake is the eponymous place Torgelow am See . The Schloss Torgelow boarding school with park and terrace over the lake is also located here on the lakeshore . In the north, not far from the bank, lies Groß Gievitz and in the east the small settlement of Minenhof. The lake has a length of around 3.1 kilometers and a width of 1.6 kilometers. With its oval shape, the lake is not very structured. In the northern part are the love island and another small island. Both are overgrown with deciduous forest.
The lake is part of the Torgelower See nature reserve . Above all, the landscape around Lake Torgelower, which was shaped by the Ice Age and is interspersed with old oaks and beeches like a park, is protected here.
