The Krakower See is located in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg .
location
Located a little north of the large Mecklenburg lakes, it has a north-south extension of around 9 km and an average depth of 7.4 m. The largest east-west extension is 3 km. The Krakower See is divided into Lower and Upper Lake. The landscape around the heavily indented Untersee is rather flat. The Untersee is part of the Krakow Lake District Conservation Area. The eponymous town of Krakow am See is located on the west bank of the Untersee . The island-rich southern Obersee is located in the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature park and has been the Krakower Obersee nature reserve since 1939 . Not far from the western bank of the Obersee runs one of the most beautiful sections of the federal highway 103 .
The connection between Unter and Obersee on the Wadehäng is only a few meters wide and is crossed by the road to Dobbin-Linstow .
The observation tower on the Jörnberg allows a wide view of the Krakow Untersee.
Mist valley
At the northern end of the Krakower See near Serrahn the beautiful breakthrough valley of the Nebel begins with extensive hiking trails and the watermill in Kuchelmiß .
