The Great Labussee ( Slav. Labut = swan) is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District in the Müritz National Park about ten kilometers southwest of Neustrelitz between the villages of Zwenzow and Klein Quassow . It belongs to the so-called other inland waterway of the federal Quassower Havel, which is legally part of the Upper Havel waterway . The Eberswalde Waterways and Shipping Office is responsible .
The lake has an approximately triangular shape. To the north there is approx. 600 meter long canal connects to the Useriner See , through which the Havel flows. At the southern end of this canal is the first lock on the Havel, the Zwenzow lock . The Havel itself runs from the Useriner See via Useriner Mühle northeast of the Großer Labussee to Klein Quassow and from there in an easterly direction as Quassower Havel to the Woblitzsee . From the east bank of the Great Labussee an approx. 600 meter long canal crosses the lake with the 3 km long Quassower Havel and over this with the Upper Havel waterway.
