The Drewitzer See (or Alt Schweriner See) is located in the northeast of the municipality of Alt Schwerin in the Mecklenburg Lake District , and borders with its eastern bank on the municipality of Nossentiner Hütte . It is 4.6 kilometers long and between 200 and 2000 meters wide. It is surrounded by the nature reserve Drewitzer See with Lübowsee and Dreiersee in the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature reserve . It is a very calcareous clear water lake that is not directly connected to other lakes. The Plauer See and the Samoter See are nearby . The Drewitzer See emerged from an ice age meltwater channel. It is traversed by calcareous groundwater and has no natural surface inflow or outflow. The west bank is affected by the federal highway 19 .

In 1982, a hunting residence for the Chairman of the State Council, Erich Honecker, was built directly on the lake in what was then the state hunting area of Nossentiner Heide . ( 53 ° 33 ′ 31.7 ″  N , 12 ° 21 ′ 3.7 ″  E ) After 1998, the complex was converted into a hotel complex with holiday homes. Today it covers 14 hectares and was auctioned on November 21, 2011 by the previous hotel operator.
