The Samoter See is a lake in the area of the communities Alt Schwerin , district of Mecklenburg Lake District , and Plau am See , district of Ludwigslust-Parchim in the Mecklenburg Lake District .

location

The water has a size of 30.6 hectares and is 61.6  m above sea level. NHN . The maximum size of the elongated lake, which widens to the south, is 840 meters by 440 meters. It is located in the south of the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature reserve and in the north bank of the Plauer See nature reserve . The protection was placed because of the use of the lake as a feeding and breeding area for numerous bird species.

The lake is completely surrounded by forest. At its southern shore with Verlandungssaum the Brickyard fracture, vermoorte lowlands to 1000 meters away is Lake Plau , by leading a drainage ditch. The Mecklenburg Southern Railway and the Bundesstrasse 192 cross the Erlenbruch . The name Ziegeleibruch comes from the peat cutting of the nearby glassworks , which was founded in 1847 and is now a district of Alt Schwerin, which until 1901 produced so-called Mecklenburg forest glass - especially through child labor.

On the north bank of the Samot lake there is a silting bog to the former Rohrsee, which 200 years ago still had an open water surface. This bank area is not used for forestry purposes, so that a reed border and alder breakage that are not endangered by human interference could develop.

The west and east banks are slightly elevated above the water level, here paths lead along the bank, including a nature trail in the nature park. In the east, between Lake Samot and Lake Plumsee , there are some houses.
