history

In January 1990, initiatives by nature conservationists led to the inclusion of a planned large conservation area in the Krakower See area in the GDR government's national park program of March 16, 1990. The Schwerin district administrative authority prepared the planning documents for the area together with the Neubrandenburg district and the Lübz, Güstrow and Waren districts. It was signed on September 24, 1990 by the government representatives Martin Brick and Dr. Georg Diederich set. In the following period, this decision was legally recognized as a temporary safeguard and work was carried out to finally establish the nature park according to the new state law. In this process, on the initiative of the three district administrators, the model of joint sponsorship between the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the districts of Lübz, Güstrow and Waren, later Parchim, Güstrow and Müritz, was developed, which is used in today's Nature Conservation Act for all nature parks in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania finds. The final establishment of the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature park took place on July 14, 1994 and was the first in the new state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Details of the cooperation between the state and the counties were regulated in an administrative agreement that was signed by the contracting parties on February 7, 1995 and which is still largely in force today.
