The Kläden nature reserve is a 40 hectare nature reserve six kilometers northwest of the town of Dobbertin in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the south bank of the Holzsee, one of the three basins of the Woseriner See .

history

It was placed under protection in 1957 with two extensions in 1972 and 1998. The state of the area is very good. There are no forest interventions. The area has been observed for research purposes since 1957 and has been designated as the Stephansberg natural forest reserve since 1996 . It can be viewed via a hiking trail on the south bank of Lake Woseriner. The protected area is located in the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature park and is part of an FFH and bird protection area under EU law .

The area, also called Hohe Holtz , has been covered with forest for centuries. In the 17th century and into the 20th century in particular, logs were removed and floated across the Woseriner See and Bresenitz to the Mildenitz . This gave the eastern part of the Woseriner See the name Holzsee.

Beech forest dominates the vegetation with interspersed sycamore elm and sycamore maple . There are numerous species of forest birds and bats.
