Warnowseen nature reserve
Location of the NSG in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania |
The Warnowseen nature reserve is a nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania consisting of four sub-areas . The areas surround the village of Gustävel and together have a size of 177 hectares. The area was designated on May 21, 1941 and expanded in 1967 and 1982.
The aim of the protection is to preserve several lakes through which the Warnow and Göwe waters flow and which represent an important habitat for water birds. The condition of the area is assessed as satisfactory. Problems are caused by the limited water supply in the lakes.
The nature reserve is located in the Sternberger Seenland Nature Park and is owned by the Foundation for Environment and Nature Conservation MV. According to EU law, the nature reserve is designated as part of the FFH area Warnowtal with small tributaries .
