Wangeliner See nature reserve
Coordinates: 53 ° 23 ′ 33.3 " N , 12 ° 10 ′ 19.2" E
The nature reserve Wangeliner See is a 112 hectare nature reserve in Mecklenburg .
location
It is located southwest of Plau am See , west of Wangelin . It was expelled on December 8, 1994. The protection purpose consists in the maintenance and development of a deep flow moor with the Wangeliner See as an important wetland for water birds and waders. During the GDR era, the lowland was drained intensively. The current state of the area is assessed as good, as the water balance of the lake and adjacent areas has recovered after the installation of a dam in 1992. A nature trail with information boards leads into the area from the south and, with a viewing platform in the north, offers excellent opportunities for viewing the area and for bird watching.
