The nature reserve Görslower bank is a nature reserve designated ten kilometers long narrow section of the shore on the eastern shore of Lake Schwerin in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern between the villages of Raben Steinfeld and Leezen . In addition to the bank, the adjacent steep slopes are protected. It was placed under protection on March 22, 1982 and covers an area of 51 hectares.

The nature reserve is almost congruent with the FFH area of the same name .

The use as a local recreation area or nature experience area is characteristic of the Görslower Ufer.

history

The area is already covered with forest on Wiebeking's maps . Due to the extreme slope of the forests, only individual trees could be removed. A historical use as a hut forest is also conceivable, as the old oaks currently indicate. Treatment measures are only carried out for the purpose of keeping the hiking trails accessible, of making the habitats there safe and of protecting and promoting special species. This is done in accordance with Natura 2000 (Waldmeister-Buchenwald; bird sanctuary "Schweriner Seen") and the regulations for the nature reserve.

Flora and fauna

The area is almost entirely forested. Due to the small climatic changing conditions, it is equipped with a wide variety of habitats, which also results in a high variety of wood and herb vegetation. In addition to red beech and oak, you will find maple (sycamore, Norway and field maple ), linden , hornbeam , bird cherry , aspen , crabapple and wild pear , elm and a variety of shrubbery. In the boggy bank areas you can also find the typical red alder , the common ash and the hazelnut. Other rare types of wood, such as B. European black poplar , common viburnum or eccentric cones are added locally. The forest consists mainly of old trees that naturally begin to rejuvenate. In the herb layer you can find the hepatica, which is particularly typical and conspicuous for the area in early spring with its blue flowers, and occasionally also winter horsetail , broad-leaved sitter and male orchid . The shore areas are the habitat of the otter . Notable occurrences in the bird world are kingfisher , red-backed killer , pied flycatcher , tawny owl , sandpiper , black and green woodpecker and dipper .

Ownership

The municipal foundation "Nature and People on the Görslower Ufer" in the municipality of Raben Steinfeld is the owner of the land in the nature reserve.
