The Stecknitz-Delvenau nature reserve is a 261 hectare nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , which extends as a narrow, nine-kilometer-long band from north to south east of Lauenburg . The protected status was made on 1 October 1990 with the aim of the meandering lowland stream - the Delvenau since the connection with the further north, Stecknitz by the Stecknitz get with adjacent wetlands - also often called Stecknitz. The reserve is on the Habitats Directive as a Natura 2000 site registered and is completely in the 610-hectare conservation area "Stecknitz / Delvenau lowlands" in the district Ludwigslust-Parchim . It borders directly on the " Stecknitz-Delvenau-Niederung " nature reserve , which includes the meadows west of the stream and belongs to the Duchy of Lauenburg district.
The current state of the area is considered to be satisfactory as the areas continue to be drained.
Green band
Because of its secluded location on the inner-German border, the nature reserve is now part of the so-called Green Belt . The nature reserves in the area of the Green Belt in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are (from north to south) in the Schaalsee biosphere reserve the NSG Wakenitzniederung , Kammerbruch , Campower Steilufer , Kiekbuschwiesen near Neuhof , Mechower See , Goldensee , Techin furthermore the NSG Wallmoor , Pipermoor / Mühlbachtal , Stecknitz -Delvenau and in the Mecklenburg Elbe Valley nature reserve the Elbe slope "Vierwald" , Elbdeichvorland , Rüterberg , inland dunes near Klein Schmölen and Löcknitztal-Altlauf .
