The Stecknitz is a river in the Duchy of Lauenburg and in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck in the state of Schleswig-Holstein .
course
It rises from the Ziegelsee near Mölln and flows into the Trave near Lübeck . The Stecknitz was already regulated as the Stecknitz Canal in the Middle Ages and connected to the Delvenau , which flows into the Elbe . Since the renewed expansion at the end of the 19th century, the 62 km long shipping route between the Elbe and Trave has been called the Elbe-Trave Canal and, since 1936, the Elbe-Lübeck Canal .
The back arms of the Stecknitz can still be seen along the canal.
