The state of the area is assessed as good.

The protected area is located in the Nossentiner-Schwinzer Heide nature park and is part of an FFH and bird protection area under EU law .

A signposted circular hiking trail allows you to enter the area.

history

A post-glacial inland dune stretches around the protected area, which stretches around the Langhagensee in a horseshoe shape. A rampart on the east bank of the Langhagensee indicates that the area was settled in the Slav period. The village to the east of Wooster Teerofen was founded in 1705 and goes back to a tar smelling and a tiednery . On Wiebeking's map from 1786, the area can be recognized as an unforested moorland. The bog areas were used as pasture until the 20th century. The forest area was owned by the Dobbertin Monastery until 1918 . In the 1960s, today's protected area was part of the military restricted area of the Schwinzer Heide. The lake was used for a short time to cross the water with tanks. Immediately to the north is the restricted military area, which is still in use today.

Flora and fauna

White water lily and swimming pondweed grow in the Langhagensee . The bank area is covered with reeds , narrow-leaved cattails and pond ridge . Schneideried as well as bladder and thread sedge grows in the area of the former tank passage . Peat moss , round-leaved sundew and moor bear moss have been found on the dry shores in the northern area of the Langhagensee .
